New Exhibitions Heart of the Forest and Lost Wax and Art in Bronze Can Be Found in the Heart of Queen’s Park this July
New Westminster, British Columbia – June 23, 2016–Two new exhibitions showcasing three artists will be on display at The Gallery at Queen’s Park starting July 1, 2016. Heart of the Forest, featuring Judy Villett and Terry Aske, focuses on a portrayal of passion and connection to the forest through quilting, and Lost Wax and Art in Bronze, by Robert Matza, showcases a high degree of craftsmanship in bronze sculpture. These shows run from July 1- 24, 2016.
Both quilters use a variety of techniques from traditional to modern to create realistic and abstract pieces. Award-winning works from both Villett and Aske have exhibited internationally and been published in art books and magazines.
Born and raised in Vienna, Austria, sculptor Matza’s passion for art was quelled during the war. This love was reawakened after moving to Canada in the 60s. Matza participated in his first art symposium in 1982 and has exhibited all over the Lower Mainland since.
The opening reception for Heart of the Forest and Lost Wax and Art in Bronze will be on July 6, 2016 from 6pm – 8pm, and there will be artist’s talks by Villett and Aske on July 17, 2016, starting at 1pm.
