There’s a new arts advocacy power house in BC. Introducing the BC Coalition of Arts, Culture and Heritage!
Collectively the Coalition’s 29 organizations represent thousands of arts, culture, and heritage organizations in every region and more than 188 communities in BC.
This includes hundreds of cultural businesses, venues, festivals, consultants, and independent practitioners, as well as tens of thousands of professional artists, cultural practitioners, and volunteers throughout BC.
The Coalition’s current requests for support from the Government of BC:
- Increase annual BC Arts Council budget to $55 million
- Maintain COVID-era investments in arts, culture, and heritage.
- Work with the sector to develop a provincial arts, culture, and heritage action plan.
How can you take action and advocate for our sector?
- Write to your MLA
- Invite elected officials to your arts, culture, and heritage events
- Tell your community that BC arts, culture, and heritage needs their help
