Local New Westminster artists are invited to submit artworks for a fall group exhibition to the Community Art Gallery at Anvil Centre. The exhibition Capture Light is welcoming submissions of photographic works that represents the diverse medium. Photography can reflect a range of creative expression, from macro to micro, from analog to digital, landscape to street photography, still frames to documentary works are welcomed. Accompanying short written statements or/and bios are also encouraged.

The Community Art Gallery, located in the lobby of the Anvil Centre Theatre celebrates the rich cultural landscape of New Westminster. The gallery forges creative dialogue, brings attention to local art and creates new opportunities for artists in our city. It is an accessible space where New Westminster-based art groups can organize members’ exhibitions. It is open to New Westminster emerging and established artists working in two-dimensional media.
Submission Deadline: Friday, July 30th, 2021
Exhibition period: November 9th – December 31st, 2021

Submissions must include:
- Artist name and contact information (phone number, email, mailing address)
- 2-3 JPEG or PDF images of proposed artworks. Maximum 2 pieces per artist will be eligible for selection.
- Label information: artist name, artwork title(s), media(s) and dimensions
- other didactic text such as a written statement, story or poem (no longer than 100 words). This is not a submission requirement.
- An artist biography
Please note that the proposed work submission must not have been exhibited in New Westminster in the preceding 12 months, nor (upon acceptance) be displayed in any other New Westminster gallery during the exhibition year. Proposals will be adjudicated by a peer jury. All artworks need to be ready for exhibition (framed and/or ready to display with appropriate wiring). There is no exhibition fee paid to selected artists. Submission deadline: July 30th, 2021
