Free Arts To Go with Blind Beginnings – July 20

Join artist Jag Nagra, Arts New West, and Blind Beginnings for a multi-sensory outdoor art workshop on Saturday, July 20th, at Uptown Plaza from 11am to 2pm. Participants will have the chance to explore and create art using a variety of materials and textures that engage the senses. This workshop is designed to be fun and inclusive, allowing people of all ages and abilities to experience the joy of making art in a hands-on, multi-sensory way. The workshop is free to participants, and no prior artistic experience is needed.

The event will also feature live music!

About the artist: Jag Nagra is a queer Punjabi Visual Artist with a passion for community development and bringing art into public spaces. Her artworks have been acquired by the Museum of Vancouver for their permanent collection and she is a co-founder of Vancouver’s Punjabi Market Collective, a non-profit working to revitalize the historic Punjabi market commercial district.

Blind Beginnings: At Blind Beginnings, we see the enormous possibilities in children and youth who are blind or partially sighted and we passionately challenge ANY perspectives that limit what they’re capable of or achieving.

No other organization in BC offers the range of programs that we do. We provide services for ages birth to 19 and incorporate programs and support for the whole family, because we recognize that blindness impacts parents and siblings too.

We provide counseling and peer support for parents, so they learn how to best support their child.

We offer youth a variety of programs and support to help them build their skills and confidence, including independent living skills, employment preparation, and support groups.

This event is in partnership with Uptown New West Business Improvement Association
