The Arts Council of New Westminster Board of Directors are very pleased to share the results of our most recent fundraising campaign. The ACNW Board of Directors chose to undertake this campaign in response to the unprecedented impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. A mid-campaign announcement of a $10,000 matching campaign helped push us past our goal. Many individual donors expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity to have their donation’s impact doubled by the generosity of an anonymous donor. Our sincerest THANK YOU to everyone that donated to ACNW’s Friends of the Arts Council #NewWest campaign. Together we exceed our initial fundraising goal of $35,000 and raised over $40,000!
These results will assist the ACNW in promoting innovations that help artists adapt to the ‘new normal’ ahead. Combined with reduced costs and support from governments and the Vancouver Foundation, this fundraising result solidifies our ability to operate through the immediate future. With these funds going to programs that support local artists, ACNW programming can be delivered in safe, accessible, and innovative ways. The ACNW will continue to be a valued community partner to artists, arts organizations, the City of New Westminster, and other local agencies and non-profits.
In our immediate future, the ACNW Board of Directors and staff will review our public programming. We will be adapting to new health regulations and guidelines. Our works is to further allow everybody in the community to experience the arts, by increasing access and diversity and reducing barriers to participation. We look forward to continuing in-person New West Craft artisan markets at Tipperary Park, future episodes of the ArtsNW Podcast featuring stories from local artists, and the now-monthly New Westminster Cultural Roundtable as a platform for learning, information exchange, and capacity development.
We could not have achieved these results without the help of our amazing community and the local businesses who generously donated. Special thanks to the City of New Westminster, Vancouver Foundation and ACNW’s various supporters throughout the community for their generous contributions to the campaign. We would like to thank the following amazing folks:
