LitFest NewWest 2016 – Call for Workshops Proposals

We are seeking proposals for exciting interactive workshops for LitFest NewWest 2016, an annual literary arts festival presented by The Arts Council of New Westminster, Royal City Literary Arts Society, New Westminster Public Library and Douglas College. Workshops will be selected by a jury comprised of members from the Royal City Literary Arts Society and The Arts Council of New Westminster. Workshops will be scheduled in one hour and fifteen minute slots at Douglas College between 10am and 5pm on May 14 2016.

Proposals should be centred on writing and/or reading as they relate to the following subjects:

  • Panel discussions
  • Current events
  • Editing
  • Food & beverage
  • Genre (e.g. mystery, humour, fantasy)
  • Memoir & history
  • Poetry
  • Reading (the art of)
  • Song writing
  • Spirituality
  • Storytelling
  • Travel
  • The business of writing (e.g. publishing, social media, fundraising)
  • Minority perspectives & approaches to the craft
  • Children’s literature (e.g. writing, presenting)

Please include the following when submitting a proposal:

  1. Title
  2. Presenter’s name, brief bio, and relevant CV (may include references, testimonials, or video clips)
  3. Workshop description (max 500 words). Please emphasize audience participation and interaction
  4. Workshop objectives and relevance
  5. Equipment needed
  6. Marketing suggestions and insights
  7. How you heard about the call for workshop proposals
