Good News?
Heritage Canada has announced that the Cultural Capital program is cancelled as a result of the government’s latest austerity budget.
How could that be good news? Well, of course, it is not—especially as New Westminster has put in so much creative energy into the cultural capital application.
A Silver Lining
That is exactly where one has to look for the silver lining in this very dark cloud. All that planning that we have done has shown that we are an amazing community of artists, arts and culture organizations, and businesses, and that we are truly passionate about growing arts and culture in New Westminster.
The project ideas that you were developing for the cultural capital application are still valid. They can still be brought to fruition through partnerships and other sources of funding.
