Stellar music line-up at this year’s RiverFest
Two youth bands, New Westminster’s Secondary School (NWSS) jazz combo, The Tiger Exhibit and indie-rock band, Derrival will open this year’s line-up of stellar music at New Westminster’s RiverFest on Friday, September 27 at 4 pm.
The Tiger Exhibit is a 6-piece jazz combo featuring New West Secondary school students on tenor saxophone, trumpet, trombone, electric/acoustic bass, piano, drums, and occasionally clarinet and alto saxophone.
NWSS boasts a large music program led by four music educators with a philosophy that focuses on community, leadership and mentorship through high quality musical experiences.
Also formed in high school, Derrival, is an emerging indie-rock band composed of five recent high school grads from Langley. They will also open for Hey Ocean at the Momentum Youth Festival at the Massey Theatre on November 2nd. Derrival recently released their first album, “Youth Captured” that focuses entirely on the theme of youth.
RiverFest’s music line-up on Friday, September 27 is sponsored by the Arts Council of New Westminster and will also feature classic country rock group, The Cory Hawthorne Band and RazzMaJazz, the well-know 7-piece New Orleans style, creole, funk, blues show band.
