CALL FOR EXHIBITION PROPOSALS: ANVIL CENTRE COMMUNITY ART GALLERY
DEADLINE: October 31st, 2021
The Community Art Gallery, located on the 3rd floor of Anvil Centre, supports local artists through exhibition opportunities in order to stimulate creative dialogue, connect artists with the community and showcase the diverse range of creative expression that exists in New Westminster.
The Gallery is currently accepting proposals from artist teams or arts collectives for the 2022 exhibition schedule. This opportunity is open to groups of 3 or more New Westminster artists who reside, have a studio practice in the City or have a connection to the land and work in twodimensional media. BIPOC artists, emerging and equity-seeking artists and other artists who have not participated in the past are encouraged to submit proposals.
Exhibition blocks are 2 months in duration.
There are opportunities for outreach programs such as artist talks or workshops during the exhibition period. Anvil Centre will also host an opening/artist reception for each exhibition.

Submissions must include:
- Names and contact information for all artists (please identify a main contact)
- 3-5 JPEG or PDF images of proposed artworks by each artist
- List of artworks identifying artist names, work titles and dimensions
- Exhibition statement
- Artist biography/Current CV for each artist
Please note that the proposed work submission must not have been exhibited in New Westminster in the preceding 12 months, nor (upon acceptance) be displayed in any other New Westminster gallery during the exhibition year. Proposals will be adjudicated by a peer jury. All artworks need to be ready for exhibition (framed and/or ready to display with appropriate wiring). There is no exhibition fee paid to selected artist(s).

Call to Artists – Artist Roster for Public Art projects
Deadline: Friday, November 19, 2021 by 4:30 p.m. PST
Artists or artist teams who live or work in New Westminster and the Lower Mainland (which includes the regional districts of Metro Vancouver and Fraser Valley) are invited to submit qualifications for public art opportunities under $25,000. Projects will vary widely and artists practicing in all media are encouraged to apply. Examples of such projects may include (but is not limited to) community engaged projects, site-responsive commissions for temporary works, artist residencies or design only contracts for permanent installations throughout the city. The Artist Roster is a list of artists who pre-qualify to create public art throughout the city. It allows for a streamlined selection process and will be one of several ways used to hire artists.

Expressions of Interest – Artist-Initiated Public Art project
Deadline: Friday, November 26, 2021 by 4:30 p.m. PST
Artists or artist teams who live or work in New Westminster and the Lower Mainland (which includes the regional districts of Metro Vancouver and Fraser Valley) are invited to submit expressions of interest for an Artist-Initiated Public Art project. This is an opportunity for artists to propose artworks in any medium, including non-object based work and temporary installations with a maximum total budget of $30,000.
This opportunity is meant to support artist-led initiatives, experimentation and to build capacity.
