The Community Arts Builder Award recognizes someone who has made a long-term contribution to the Arts in New Westminster.
For over 35 years, Trudy Van Dop has been a cultural entrepreneur in the Arts & Cultural Sector in British Columbia.
She is the publisher of BC’s Guide to Arts & Culture, owner of the Van Dop Gallery, Founder of the New West Cultural Crawl and producer of annual arts and cultural events. Trudy is a visionary creator of innovative projects to encourage cultural economic development in communities throughout BC.
In our city, she has contributed her public relations expertise to:
· Tourism New Westminster
· New West Arts Commission
· New West Economic Development Advisory Committee
· New West Arts Strategy
· 2010 Spirit of New Westminster
· New West Official Community Plan
Currently for Arts New West. Trudy hosts the Advisory panel, and co-chairs the Planning committee for the Cultural Crawl.
The worst thing that could happen is if we take her for granted. So we’re not going to.
