Joni Mitchell had it right when she sang “You don’t know what you’ve got ‘til its gone”. Among the casualties form this pandemic are all the theatre performances, music concerts and arts show that make New Westminster such a great place in the summer. In response, we’ve reduced expenses, postponed programs and are doing what we can online, including weekly the craft fair and weekly roundtables.
Personally, I miss hearing music on the streets and in our parks.
We don’t know when things will return but we do know life will be different. Your Arts Council is monitoring other cities and working with other organizations to bring back our vibrant arts scene. To keep our operations going through this time we have asked for your help and the response to our fundraising campaign has been terrific. If you have already donated, we thank you. If this is not a good time to donate, we fully understand.
Recently we were approached by a supporter who is willing to match any new donation up to $10,000. That will go a long way to helping us reach our $35,000 goal.
Please pass on the news that “if you could find your way to giving us a gift, your money will be doubled.” Donations can be sent by mail to PO Box 16003, New Westminster, BC, V3M 6W6, or online at acnw.ca/donate. To spread things out, donors could consider pledging a smaller amount monthly.
The ACNW Board believes the arts are essential to a livable city and we will make sure all funds are put to good use.
Thanks
